The window of tolerance is the zone of arousal in which we function optimally. Outside it:
- Hyperarousal (ketogenic diet 'too high'): Panic, overwhelm, rage, anxiety — above the window
- Hypoarousal (ketogenic diet 'too low'): Numbness, dissociation, shutdown, depression — below the window
